Family Support Group
Researcher Bruce Alexander's well-known Rat Park study (1974) highlighted the powerful role environment and connection can play in recovery. While the study has its critiques, it reinforces an essential truth: recovery is strengthened through support, connection, and community.
Recovery does not occur in a silo. Loved ones of individuals struggling with alcohol or drug use often experience their own challenges as they support someone through the healing process. That's why Rosewood Recovery created Hope and Healing: Family Support Group for Addiction and Recovery.

What is the Hope and Healing Family Support Group?
Hope and Healing is a community-based program offering a safe, compassionate space for family members and loved ones of individuals struggling with substance use. Whether your loved one is currently in treatment, actively in recovery, or still finding their way, you are welcome here. Our goal is to help you feel less alone while equipping you with practical strategies to support both your loved one and yourself.
What to Expect at Meetings
Our monthly Zoom meetings are facilitated by Rosewood Recovery staff and vary in format. Some sessions focus on open dialogue, allowing participants to share experiences, ask questions, and offer mutual support. Other sessions take a psychoeducational approach, featuring staff or guest speakers who provide valuable information on addiction science, recovery principles, and effective support strategies.
Why Connection Matters in Recovery
Research, including Bruce Alexander's Rat Park study, highlights the powerful role that environment and connection play in recovery outcomes. While no single study tells the whole story, the evidence consistently points to one truth: recovery is strengthened through support, connection, and community. By participating in Hope and Healing, you become part of that supportive network.
