Exercise like walking naturally boosts dopamine and endorphins (neurotransmitters that the brain often struggles to produce naturally during early sobriety) helping restore mood regulation and rebuild pathways impacted by substance use.Beyond the brain chemistry benefits, walking helps manage cravings by redirecting energy and interrupting urge cycles, while improving cognitive functions like executive functioning (focus, impulse control, planning) that we emphasize in PHP/IOP groups.
